Indraj Sinha (Sunny)
Founder & President
Indraj (Sunny) is the founder of The Ponds Tennis Club Inc. and the current club President. It is Sunny’s leadership, generocity and friendliness that has seen the club grow from a few mates to a thriving tennis community. Sunny has overseen all of the endeavours to make the club self-sufficient and minimise any overhead and administration, so we can all enjoy playing more tennis and less organising it!
Apart from his duties as a President, Sunny also brings the club members together by organising social events involving families and kids. Thankfully, his culinary skills are quite superior to his tennis skills. As an ambidextrous player, there are rumours that he once played a backhand, which resulted in his opposition conceding the match in shock and disbelief.
Romanshu Goel
Vice President
Romanshu joined the club after hearing our affirmative action call for more lefties in the group and he was quickly promoted up the ranks to help organise our annual tournaments.
Don't be fooled by his always-on smile and friendly demeanour, as he is as wily as they come once he steps onto the court. A true smiling assassin with a deadly technique.
Rohin Sharma
Treasurer
Rohin is a meticulous treasurer, which also flows to his tennis game!!!
His precise and crafty shot selection along with agility and game strategy is respected amongst all club players. Being a numbers guy, he likes to stay in ‘credit’ for all his matches and only loses few games in between!!!
For anything around money, he is our go to person and is quite meagre with expenditure like giving away game and set points within his game!!
Craig McIntyre
Secretary
Craig is a dogged perfectionist. Known for chasing after every ball as if his life depended on it, Craig also serves like he is cricketer afraid of being no-balled for a bent arm.
Unfortunately, neither Craig nor his opponent usually have any idea where his serves are going to go, except that they will get there quickly.
Monte Kainth
Team Lead
Monte has been a stalwart of the club since the early days and is a perennial favourite for any singles competition.
He plays with a power game that few can match. In fact he hits the ball as if Thor has swapped his hammer for a Babolat, except that Thor doesn't have the superhuman ability to lose a drink bottle every time he plays.
Avinash Bhandari
Team Lead
Avi (Mr resourceful)!! has been a welcome addition to PTC admin team and is responsible for admin and events related tasks.
He is lovingly called Mansoor Bahrami version 2.0 with his innovative shot selection and on-going commentary within the tennis court!!! Interactions with him on/off court are always entertaining and fun!!
As per his nickname, he is quite resourceful in winning points with his verbal and tennis shot selection and making the opponent feel good after losing!!!
Josh Casey
Team Lead
Josh has been a stalwart of this club since early days!!! He is in-charge of looking after Ponds Tennis club grand-slam tournaments and admin tasks.
Lovingly called the ‘Original top-spin king’ with crafty second serve, which bamboozles most Indian sub-continent players (although considered good player of spin!!). His towering stature on court, along with Andre Agassi hair style!! and serve and volley game is quite intimidating for most seasoned club players.
Fortunately, that aura doesn’t trickle towards his off-court interaction, where he is quite helpful and ready to assist in day-to-day club operations.
